We have explained over on the other blog, accessed via: polly-tickle.blogspot.com, details of our enjoyable tour of much of Scotland. This, however, was a second choice destination, having considered a river cruise down the Rhone. For some time, the author thought long and hard about the consequences about what might happen should we have been caught in France when the European catastrophe finally happens, and happen it must. We can almost see everybody 'downing tools', not giving a thought to any stranded tourists. My wife considered me to be over cautious, as is my wont about such possibilities. The problems, although generally still being swept down the road or under the carpet, are beginning to happen. The staff at the Eiffel Tower along with other venues, it is understood, have withdrawn their labour. In addition, a friend has had her French holiday cancelled due to these activities.
The European Union, no matter how dead it is, loves to pretend that everything in the garden is rosy; Croatia has become the latest new addition. One wonders if they take any notice of how much all these costs will affect their lives, ultimately, for little return. Brussels is feeling good with itself, as is the norm this time of year, having announced the usual increased spending round, which includes a handsome injection to the pension fund of the officials.
CAN THIS MONEY BE REAL?
