GREEK MYTHOLOGY.

Greek Prime Minister, Antonis Samaras (Brussels placement), is currently playing musical chairs, initially in Berlin to plead with Angela Merkel, and then onto Paris. The intention is to extend the period of compliance to the European Union's requirements before Greece can get additional financial assistance. Presumably a compromise will be found, giving the impression that they will be able to pay off these loans. Some hope!

The absurd aspect of all this nonsense is that Samaras then goes to Paris to see President Francois Hollande. France's financial situation, although not as dire as their Greek colleagues, is not far behind the troublesome economies of both Spain and Italy. We could enquire what is going on, but it is, as ever, Brussels 'bodging up'  that is causing economic melt down in the west, with a knock-on effect around the world. It is understood that Barack Obama is fearful of Greece opting out of the euro, with all the implications that would ensue, something that could go against him in the forthcoming Presidential Election.

THERE'S NO RESPONSIBILITY HERE THEN.

IS THIS THE DEATH RATTLE I HEAR?

It is almost impossible now, wherever you may be, not to realise that the Euro, the blight on the economies of Europe, must be coming to an end. This might, at first, apply only to a handful of nations, but the problem has become enormous; and could also include France, somewhere down the line.

The euro diehards are trying to convince all and sundry that tomorrow will be a better day. There have, however, always been those who new better, including the author. Conservative MEP Daniel Hannan, a man of considerable intellect, is another. Extracts from his new book, 'A Doomed Marriage', have been appearing in the press these past few days. His impressive credentials can be observed on his website, and also on Youtube. Apart from the well publicised rampant fraud, which abounds around Brussels, he makes a mockery of the fact that the commission actually thinks that national democracy gets in the way of progress for the European Union. What it actually means, is that it disrupts their dream of total control over most of the continent. They see themselves as a Kremlin-styled Brussels. Hannan, not unlike Nigel Farage of the United Kingdom Independence Party, has always seen what the outcome would be. He makes the point, that major charities are now in hock to Brussels; giving the Commission the opportunity to brag that they, along with the many nations who are in receipt of funds annually from Brussels, makes up a convincing majority in Europe. Well of course it does, it's handy to be on the take. This is how socialism survives, robbing Peter to pay Paul. Margaret Thatcher was always maligned by the dim left, including the BBC, for often being alienated on such matters. Well, the chickens are now coming home to roost!

We shall see within a very few days, whether or not another fudge is arranged, to excuse Greece from paying off its dues to the European Central Bank for a period. This couldn't possibly work of course, as they will only continue racking up debt if they remain in the eurozone.

WHAT OPEN COMPETITION?

Once upon a time, a group of European nations decided to pool resources, and move towards a federation, hoping to eventually operate under one government and one flag. We were told this would be a major asset for nations involved, in that it would be made easier for them to compete for all forms of business. Naturally, things never turn out to be that straight forward. A fine example of  what we could call national nepotism has taken place recently in the European heartland of Germany.

Berlin is concentrating its airports into one main hub, Schonefeld; this, by the way, was the former USSR airbase until the fall of the 'wall'. After the extensive updating, it will be known as Berlin Brandenburg International. Tempelhof has already gone, and Tegel will disappear when the much improved BBI is completed; whenever that might be.

Originally, travellers would have expected to be flying into the improved facility by June this year. There was a glitch however. The original contract was given to the German construction outfit, Hoch Tief-Bau. Unfortunately, they were found to have been involved in some under-hand business, so the process started all over again, and low and behold, the same outfit was awarded the business once more, in the face of pan European competition. The intended completion of the project is now August 2013. This setback has incurred further problems with all the franchisees, whose contracts were to have commenced by summer this year, creating a series of expensive court cases for the authorities.

The project has triggered the usual noise concerns, which one would anticipate. Plus a low level war amongst vying taxi businesses.

STRANGE HOW THE NAVEL GAZING BBC NEVER REPORTS SUCH MAYHEM.

LILI MARLENE (Leip/Schultze)

"Underneath the lamp light" Angela Merkel is panicking. A recent poll of the German electorate seems to be swinging to the view that they would be better off out of the Euro, returning to their beloved Mark. This will naturally be a momentous step for a nation that was hidebound on acquiring a consensus across Europe, to act as one nation. 'Dream on.'

The longer this dithering continues, the more expensive the bill will become; either way, it won't be cheap. How can Germany pick up the tab for the list of nations in serious economic decline, due to the moronic  pursuit of this flawed project? The German dream was to be the powerhouse nation, they do work much harder than the rest. Unfortunately, they have this blinkered approach, ignoring the danger signs; whereas the Southern European economies have a much different mentality, lacking the discipline of the North, particularly the Germans. Greece, for example, should not have been able to be accepted into the Euro zone; in which case, how did it come about? Well! Germany wanted as many nations as possible to be able to afford their automobiles, this being much more likely within the sphere of a common currency. Now, as the likelihood of, at best, Greece aborting, at worst, the total collapse of the currency; this would leave the Germans with the enormous problem of a very strong Mark, against much weaker currencies. Either way, Germany takes a financial pasting.

This type of situation arises when belligerent politicians get out of their depth, thinking only of the greater glory, rather than the logic.

THIS WILL GET NASTY.
